Self rescue clinic, WolF Rock, Mansfield, CT

  • 275 New Britain Avenue Plainville, CT, 06062 United States (map)

This course is for the outdoor climber who wants to be prepared for when things go awry while climbing. If you climb long enough, you will eventually run into a situation where normal belaying strategies just won’t cut it. When that happens, are you prepared? Can you rig a non-standard rappel? Can you ascend a rope? Haul or lower a stuck or injured partner with an ATC? If the answer is no, then consider signing up for this course and learning how! Learn these skills now, and be thankful later.

MEETING LOCATION

We will meet at the Joshua Land Trust Parking area in Mansfield, CT. We will meet at the parking area on the side of Crane Hill Rd. We will get geared up here, and then walk the ~5 minutes into the cliff.

DO I NEED ANY CLIMBING EXPERIENCE?

Yes! For this class you need to be able to comfortably demonstrate your ability to top rope belay, and have mastered basic knots and rappelling techniques. You should also feel comfortable climbing ~5.8 in your local climbing gym on top rope prior to this course.
